Mind/Body Resources
Quilt artists have an innate appreciation of mind/body work. Creativity is at its highest when mind and body coordinate and energy flows freely. The ability to create these conditions is a powerful skill that we are only just beginning to appreciate we can cultivate and choose on a daily basis. For the past 25 years, Judy has worked with author Thomas Crum in teaching people how to develop and hone their ability to choose a powerful, centered state of being, particularly in times of stress and conflict. The resources listed below can aid in this choice. Judy is also available for workshops and 'stretching sessions' in this work. Blog: Journey to Center - A collection of stories, articles, research and quotes to support you in your journey to center. Subscribe at JourneyToCenter.net. Three Deep Breaths provides a simple technique that you can use, no matter how busy you are, to transform tough situations into positive, energizing experiences. It is a mind/body technique that combines the ”cognitive-restructuring” capability of the brain (the ability to change our attitudes and perceptions of the world) with the calmness and presence of an aligned, centered state of being.
Thomas Crum illustrates this radically simple technique through the story of Angus, who is struggling to break through the negative habits that lead to anger, exhaustion, and poor performance. By working with our breath, by being aware of it and using it as a focusing tool, we can open up a whole new world of possibility. Published by Berrett-Koehler Publishers
